1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device — phone, tablet or computer — when you visit. They allow the site to remember information about your visit, such as preferences and actions, which can make your next visit easier and the site more useful to you.
We also use related technologies that work in similar ways, including local storage, session storage, pixels and tags. Throughout this policy, “cookies” refers to all of these unless we say otherwise.
2. The categories of cookies we use
We group cookies into four categories. The first is essential and always active; the other three are only set if you give consent through our cookie banner or your browser settings.
Strictly necessary
Always activeRequired for the site to function. These cookies do not store any personal information that can identify you.
Examples
- Remembering your cookie-consent choice so the banner doesn't reappear on every page.
- Holding short-lived session state when you submit the contact form.
- Load-balancing and security cookies set by our hosting provider to keep the site up and protected.
Functional
Requires consentEnable enhanced functionality and personalisation, such as remembering preferences. They may be set by us or by third parties whose features we have added to our pages.
Examples
- Remembering display preferences such as language or region (none in use today).
- Embedded Google Maps on the Venue page — Google may set cookies to deliver the map service.
Performance & analytics
Requires consentHelp us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and anonymous unless we tell you otherwise.
Examples
- Counting page views, time on page, and the order in which pages are visited.
- Identifying broken links or pages where visitors get stuck.
- Currently no analytics provider is enabled — this category will activate only when one is added.
Targeting & advertising
Requires consentUsed to deliver advertising that is more relevant to you and your interests, and to limit how many times you see an ad. They may also be used to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns.
Examples
- Remarketing pixels from advertising platforms (e.g., Meta, LinkedIn, Google Ads).
- Conversion tracking to attribute ticket sales to a specific campaign.
- Currently no targeting cookies are in use on this site.
3. Why we use cookies — practical examples
- Remembering your consent choice — once you click Accept or Reject in the cookie banner, we store a small flag so we don't ask again on every page.
- Maintaining a short-lived session — when you submit the contact form, server-side session state is held just long enough to deliver your message and show you a confirmation.
- Powering embedded services — the Venue page embeds Google Maps. With your consent, Google may set cookies to display the map and measure performance.
- Understanding how the site is used (when enabled) — anonymous analytics would help us see which pages are most useful and where visitors get stuck. No analytics tooling is enabled today; if added, it will only run with your consent.
- Personalised marketing (when enabled) — if we ever run paid campaigns, targeting cookies might be used to measure their effectiveness or reach previous visitors. Today there are no such cookies on the Site.
4. Third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by third parties whose services we use or whose content we embed:
- Google Maps — embedded on the Venue page; Google may set cookies to render and measure the map. Google's cookie information →
- Google Fonts — used to load typography. The font CDN does not set cookies on font requests but does receive your IP as part of the request.
- External links — when you follow links to Marriott, Tripadvisor, Booking.com, the Zambia Department of Immigration and similar sites, those services apply their own cookie policies.
We do not control third-party cookies. Please review the cookie policies of the relevant third party for full details.
5. How to manage or block cookies
You have several ways to control cookies on this Site:
- Our cookie banner — when you first visit, you can choose to Accept All cookies or accept only the strictly-necessary ones (Essential Only).
- Re-open the banner — to change your choice later, clear your site data for aba.earth (Settings → Privacy in most browsers) and the banner will reappear.
- Browser settings — most browsers let you accept, refuse or be alerted before cookies are set. Disabling all cookies may affect parts of this Site and most other websites.

6. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Where your browser sends a Do Not Track (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a request to refuse non-essential cookies. We do not set any optional cookies in this state, regardless of whether you have used our cookie banner.
7. California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), in addition to the rights set out in our Privacy Policy.

- Right to delete personal information we hold about you, subject to limited exceptions.
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information.

We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising or any other purpose under the CCPA/CPRA. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 9.
8. Updates to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time — for example, when we add a new service that uses cookies, or to reflect changes in law. We will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page when we do, and material changes will be highlighted on the Site. We encourage you to check back periodically.
