1. Who we are
The African Biochar Alliance website (the “Site”) is operated by Veritas Global Technologies (Co. No. 17140097), a company registered in England and Wales(“we”, “us”, “our”). We are the data controller in respect of personal data processed via the Site.
2. What personal data we collect
We only collect personal data that you choose to provide to us, plus a small amount of technical information generated automatically when you visit the Site.
- Contact form submissions — your name, email address, organisation, the audience category you select, and the contents of your message.
- Ticket and registration enquiries — when ticketing is enabled, contact details and order information necessary to process your booking.
- Server logs — your IP address, user-agent string, request paths and timestamps, retained by our hosting provider for operational and security purposes.
We do not currently use third-party analytics, advertising trackers, or social-media pixels on the Site.
3. Why we use your data and our lawful basis
- To respond to your enquiry — legitimate interest in operating the Site and responding to people who get in touch.
- To deliver tickets, registrations and follow-up communications — performance of a contract you have entered into with us.
- To keep the Site secure and operational — legitimate interest in protecting the Site and our users.
- To comply with legal obligations — for example, accounting and tax record-keeping where applicable.
4. Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:
- Our hosting provider — Fly.io, Inc., which processes server logs and serves the Site infrastructure.
- Service providers we engage — for example, email-delivery services if you submit a contact form, or a payment processor when ticketing is enabled. Each is bound by appropriate data-processing terms.
- Authorities or regulators — only where we are legally required to disclose information.
The Site embeds a Google Maps view on the Venue page and links to third-party sites (Marriott, Tripadvisor, Booking.com). Those services have their own privacy practices — please review them.
5. International transfers
Server infrastructure is located in the European Union (London region). Where any service provider transfers personal data outside the UK or EEA, we rely on UK / EU Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
6. How long we keep your data
We keep contact-form submissions and enquiry correspondence for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any reasonable follow-up — typically up to 12 months — after which they are deleted unless we have a continuing legal basis to retain them. Server logs are retained per our hosting provider's standard policy.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR (and EU GDPR where it applies to you), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Have inaccurate data corrected
- Ask for your data to be deleted (subject to limited exceptions)
- Restrict or object to certain processing
- Receive your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent
To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@aba.earth or use the contact form.
If you believe we have not handled your data properly, you may complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data-protection authority.
8. Cookies
The Site uses a minimal set of cookies. See our Cookie Policy for details.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site.
